Rental Studio Apartments for Independent Living

Randjes Estate is a non-profit entity. We offer a variety of independent and assisted living accommodation in our beautiful well established 42-acre estate. Randjes celebrated its 87th birthday in December 2023.

Our Estate provides Seniors a secure, vibrant (or tranquil if you prefer), stress free way of life amongst other like-minded Seniors. Our professional management team and Board of Directors have the expertise required to effectively manage a retirement estate.

Our rental units for fully independent Seniors are Studio Apartments.

Our 68 Studio Apartments offer a lock-up and go lifestyle which has the convenience of a range of support services.

These units are situated in a beautiful area of our Estate called Rotary Park.

They comprise of:
  • Bedroom and lounge combination
  • Separate full kitchen
  • Full bathroom
  • Patio or balcony

Rental per month R7 310

Electricity is metered.

Your rental includes the following:
  • 24 hour on site emergency nursing response from our Fleming House care facility
  • 24 hour security (electric fence, security surveillance cameras, Estate patrolling and a biometric access and egress system)
  • Rates and taxes
  • Refuse removal
  • Maintenance
  • Mowing of all lawns and trimming of edges
  • Water usage
  • The unit is serviced twice a month
Your rental excludes the following:
  • Compulsory CSOSA levy (Community Schemes Ombudsman Services Act) payable to the Government – R40
  • Electricity and meter reading fees
  • Carport rental of R100 (solid roof) or R55 (shade cloth) per month
  • Panic button system – R2 070 (once off) and R114 per month per person.
These costs are shown on your monthly rental statement.
We have eight one-bedroom rentals on our Estate which range in size from 51-64sqm with a rental of between R9 600 – R12 100 per month.  There is a substantial waiting list for these units, should you wish to put your name on the list for one of these units, please fill in our application form.

We have many facilities and services available at Randjes for our Residents to enjoy.

Our newly renovated Resthaven Lifestyle Centre serves as a central hub for gathering and socialising with friends and includes:

  • Lounge with individual seating areas, big screen TV, puzzle table, two fireplaces and a large outdoor patio.
  • Bistro – open daily for lunch and early dinners.
  • PerkUP Coffee Shop – open daily from 8am – 6.30pm.
  • TopUP Convenience store.
  • Fully equipped Gym.
  • Heritage Room – a history of Randjes and early Johannesburg.
  • Aladdins Cave – our second-hand store.

Guesthaven – four guest suites to accommodate families visiting from out of town.

24-hour Security – with strict access control, electric fencing, cameras and patrols.
Medical Panic Button in partnership with Medi-Response, you can be tracked wherever you are in South Africa where there is cell phone reception.
Estate Nurse – runs a diabetic and blood pressure clinic once a week and is available for preventative nursing care and dressings.
Laundry – your items are ironed and folded for as little as R30 per dry kilogram*.
Library – reading and audio books.
Transport to Shops – Norwood Pick n Pay, Killarney and Balfour weekly*.
Transport to Doctors and Hospitals – within a 15km radius*.

3 Course Midday Meal available from our Fleming House dining room.*

Professional Nurses – on site for emergencies.
Doctor Claudette Ginsberg – is on site Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Hairdressers – on site three times a week.
Podiatrist – on site once a month and available for house calls.
Beautician – on site once a week.
Reflexologist – available for house visits.

Recuperative Care Facility – 28 free days per annum in Fleming House for Life Righters.

Physiotherapist – available for house visits.
Fibre on the Estate – the fibre backbone is owned by Vumatel.  You would need to engage with an ISP (internet service provider) of your choice to get your WiFi connectivity up and running.

Activities

You will be encouraged to keep active and involved as much as you can and the variety of activities we offer is a great way to meet other Residents.

Our RJM Hall is a beautiful building that was built in 1939 and is situated in the heart of Randjes. RJM Hall is a multi-purpose facility, and it serves as a central hive for activities and social interaction. Rotary Park Hall is our smaller, more intimate multi-purpose hall which also houses our well stocked library.

  • Gardening group – If you enjoy gardening there is ample opportunity to do so in our beautiful gardens. Our gardens are home to an abundance of bird life and a rather large extended family of Guinea Fowl.

  • Knitting and crocheting – these groups meet weekly. The knitting group is part of an outreach programme for the Door of Hope which takes in abandoned babies.

We encourage you to complete an application form and submit this together with the supporting documentation requested, a deposit of R1 000 and the annual admin fee of R200, in order to join our waiting list.
